When a new person is to work in Elreda, you add an account and give the person a link. You never set the password yourself — the person chooses it, and links their own one-time code app.
Who can do this
Anyone with the permission Create and change accounts.
Before you start
- Have the person's name and email address.
- Decide which role the person should have. The role gives a default set of permissions, and they can be changed one by one afterwards.
Steps
- Open Accounts and press New account.
- Fill in Name and Email, and choose Role.
- Press Create the account. The page shows a link and how long it is valid.
- Give the link to the person, for example in a text message. The person then follows the guide on the first sign-in.
Important: The link is shown only once and cannot be retrieved. If it is lost, press New invitation on the account card; you get a new one and the old one stops working.
What your administrator sets up
How long an invitation link is valid is a setting in the installation. If it is not set, no invitation can be created, and the page says so.
Frequently asked questions
It says the role has permissions I cannot grant
You can only add an account with permissions you may grant yourself. Ask an admin to add the account.
It says the address already has an account
Each email address can have only one account. Look up the existing account in the list instead.
